EP 136: Mars + Venus go home

This week we begin the wind-down of eclipse season. Mercury is still retrograde so you may not be feeling as clear as you’d like, but I promise steadier ground will be underfoot in no time.

Eclipse season generally brings new beginnings, fresh endings, unexpected pivots, and realizations. You might be unpacking these for weeks or even months to come. This season opened on April 16th with the Full Moon in Libra and will close on May 30th with the New Moon in Gemini.

What has changed or shifted in your life since mid-April?

With Mercury retrograde, you may feel nervous to take action on things, but when Mars enters Aries this week you may not have a choice. The spirit of Mars in his home sign is enthusiastic, direct, and decisive. If you kick off something new without second-guessing it, you can blame Mars!

Just know that the landscape might change after Mercury stations direct on June 3rd.

There are a lot of helpful, buoyant vibes in the heavens this week that might have your engines revving to get up and go. Channel your energy appropriately, because Mars the warrior in his home sign does love to start a fight when he’s feeling restless. Get back to your movement practice, Mars rules the muscles and wants you to feel invigorated, not angry.

At the close of the week, Mars will be amplified by his meeting with Jupiter. Again, use the energy wisely and avoid any hotheads in your life. If you need to break through some walls of self-doubt or inertia this transit could give you the confidence and motivation to “just do it”.

Mars isn’t the only relationship planet moving back home this week! Venus will enter Taurus, one of two signs she calls home. Venus also rules Libra, but in Taurus, she is not only concerned with beauty, but also the values that lie underneath the facade.

When she squares Pluto this week you might find that money issues, power struggles, or buried resentments get aired out. This is the opening of a cycle that began back in December and you worked with it throughout Venus’ retrograde until March. Think back to what was going on for you and what you value most at that time?

On Saturday, Venus enters Taurus and she gets to calm down. She’s been amped up and pretty feisty in Aries, so having a cozy blanket and a warm cup of tea will do her some good, and you too! Treat yourself this weekend to something comforting, your nervous system will thank you.

Highlights

5.24 Tuesday: Mars enters Aries. After being in emo, sleepy Pisces, your motivation kicks back in.

5.25 Wednesday: Mercury (Rx) trines Pluto helping you focus and strategize. This is the second of 3 meetings. By the third trine on June 10 you’ll have unearthed some new or hidden info that will help you move forward with clarity.

5.27 Friday: Venus squares Pluto revealing where there may be lingering issues in your relationship.

5.28 Saturday: Venus enters Taurus. After feeling spicy and ready for a fight in Aries, she gets to relax back at home.

5.29 Sunday: Mars conjunct Jupiter. The big news of the week! These two begin a new 2 year cycle in the first sign of the zodiac. You might not be able to hold yourself back from kicking off something new and exciting. Enthusiasm, risk-taking, and optimism abound.

Looking to next week…

5.30 Monday: New Moon in Gemini. Goodbye eclipse season!

6.3 Friday: Mercury stations direct. YAY! He will clear his post retrograde shadow on June 19.

6.4 Saturday: On the day of Saturn, Saturn stations to retrograde. The taskmaster planet will make your responsibilities and limitations clear to you, but that is OK, it’s how we grow, evolve, and make meaning of our world.
